Why electrify your home?

Gas prices keep climbing and having two energy systems (gas and electric) connected means paying two sets of supply charges for no good reason. By removing your gas service your family will save $450 - $500 from the supply charge alone.

Modern electric appliances are more efficient, healthier to live with, better for the environment and pair perfectly with solar and battery storage to bring your running costs right down.

Sustainable Sparky helps homeowners across Geelong, the Surf Coast and the Bellarine plan and install a full or staged transition from gas to electric - cooktops, hot water, heating and EV charging, all handled by our own qualified electricians.

Induction cooktop

Why replace your gas cooktop with induction?

Induction cooktops heat faster than gas, give you more precise control and are safer as the cooking surface stays cool.

Burning methane, a primary component of gas, creates heat, which can enable nitrogen and oxygen to form nitrogen dioxide. It can also emit carbon monoxide and formaldehyde.

Gas cooktops don't just release harmful pollutants when they are being used. Chemicals including methane can leak from a gas cooktop even after it's turned off.

12% of childhood asthma is linked to gas cooktop use in the home, similar to tobacco smoke - Asthma Australia.

Why replace your gas hot water with a heat pump?

Heat pump hot water systems draw heat from the surrounding air to do most of the work. This process uses a fraction of the energy of an instantaneous gas hot water system.

A typical four person household pays $685 annually to heat water with instantaneous gas compared to $320 per year with a heat pump. The $320 is further reduced or even eliminated after integrating your heat pump with solar.

The Victorian Government has mandated from 1st of March 2027, existing homes must replace gas hot water systems with electric alternatives once they reach end of life. Getting ahead of this now means you can access current rebates before demand increases.

Daikin Air Conditioner

Why replace your gas heating with a reverse cycle split system?

Reverse cycle split system air conditioners are the most efficient and lowest cost way to heat and cool an Australian Home.

For every 1kW of energy it uses a split system air conditioner will give you about 4kW of heat.

Sustainable Sparky provides solutions for either wall, floor or ceiling mounted or ducted systems.

Zappi Electric Vehicle Charger Installation

Why should I install an EV charger at home?

Electrifying your transport is part of electrifying your home.

Installing a charger at home is the most convenient and cost effective way to charge your electric vehicle.

With a 7kW EV charger installed at home, you can take advantage of a free power window or a cheap overnight tariff. Ovo's EV plan will allow you to charge 42kWh into your battery for around $2.

We install home EV chargers from a range of brands, some have the ability to integrate with your solar to prioritise your own generation. Read more on EV chargers here.
